41 bands from 12 states traveled to the Georgia Dome in Atlanta for the Bands of America Super Regional on October 30-31. All 41 bands performed in the two-day prelims, starting at 3:45 PM on Friday and finishing at 4:15 PM on Saturday. Bands were divided into four classes based on school enrollment, grades 10-12. The top 12-scoring bands earned a spot in the Saturday evening finals and competed again, regardless of class.
In the Class 3A prelims, Fort Mill won the award for Best Music and finished 2nd in the class:
2—Fort Mill, SC
Fort Mill finished 3rd behind Dobyns-Bennett earlier this season at the BOA Winston-Salem Regional on October 10th. Fort Mill scored an 87.45 in the Atlanta prelims and earned one of the twelve spots in the evening finals.
At finals, Fort Mill was the highest-placing band of the 9 bands from the Carolinas, earning 5th overall:

2—L.D. Bell, TX
5—Fort Mill, SC
6—Cypress Falls, TX
7—Winston Churchill, TX
Dobyns-Bennett, TN scored an 86.6 in finals to move one-tenth of a point past Fort Mill’s 86.5. Tarpon Springs, FL is the defending BOA national champion.
The FMHS Band will now prepare for several events in November:
1—Annual Community Appreciation Performance at Bob Jones Stadium on Tuesday, November 3rd at 7:30 PM
2—Joint Fundraiser (March to Normandy) with the FM American Legion Post on November 14th
3—Annual Holiday Fair in the FMHS Commons on November 21st
4—Novant Thanksgiving Day Parade in Charlotte on November 26th
