Marching Band

The marching band is the largest and most active performing group at Fort Mill High School. There are approximately 180 members in the marching band including wind instruments, marching percussion, non-marching percussion, and color guard.

Wind Symphony

The Wind Symphony is composed of the top 45 to 50 musicians in the Fort Mill High School Band. Membership in the Wind Symphony is competitive and members are expected to strive for the highest level of individual excellence.

Symphonic Band

The Symphonic Band performs many concerts throughout the year, starting with the annual Christmas Concert. In the spring, the bands perform at the SC Band Directors Association Concert Festival, where they have consistently earned superior ratings. A winter concert precedes the concert festival in March, followed by a chamber music concert and the spring concert in May.

Jazz Band

The Jazz Band performs at the annual Jazz Night in March, sponsored by the Fort Mill High School Band Boosters. The Jazz Band also performs at community functions in town and at some of the band concerts.

Percussion Ensemble

The Fort Mill High School Winter Percussion Ensemble competes at the regional and national level.  The group won the Winter Guard International World Championships in 2003 and 2005.

Color & Winter Guard

In a marching band, the color guard is a non-musical section that provides additional visual aspects to the performance. The color guard interprets the music that the marching band is playing via the synchronized spinning of flags, sabres, rifles, and through choreographed movements.
